While no new The Shins album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 2007 tour in Australia. After seeing Sleeping Lessons, I had to have a good The Shins cd. Self-described as Pop with lots of words, The Shins comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
Australia is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Strong, powerful vocals of The Shins in Pam Berry are very impressive. Phantom Limb actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on The Shins’s face. In Sea Legs it becomes nowhere more obvious that The Shins has yet to define own style. Red Rabbits is the first taste of the new album. The song feels complete. Charming song, great melody. Vocals of The Shins in Spilt Needles really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Blew our minds when we first heard Girl Sailor. Musically A Comet Appears is superior to other tracks in Wincing the Night Away.
