There is so much to love about The Pogues, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Since completing 1991’s ‘Fairytale Of New York’, The Pogues fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is one of the best Cd’s The Pogues has dropped to date. The Best Of The Pogues is not something you should pass up.
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Sally Maclennane, which shows, blatantly, how much The Pogues has evolved as a singer. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. In The Irish Rover full palet of sound is used by The Pogues to accentuate the presentation. A Pair Of Brown Eyes is astounding work of The Pogues. The first time I listened to Streams Of Whiskey I was struck by its amazing sound. A Rainy Night In Soho (4:46) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Although Fiesta is very melodic it is far from sad. I think Rain Street is the best song The Pogues has ever done. I like the idea behind Misty Morning, Albert Bridge. The Pogues offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Thousands Are Sailing gives good insight into the truths. The Broad Majestic Shannon sets the tone for the entire album. The Body Of An American is outstanding work of The Pogues.
