The New Pornographers was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from The New Pornographers and Challengers together. This is one of the best Cd’s The New Pornographers has dropped to date. Mila Sparrow has compared writing for The New Pornographers’s new album to that on ‘Challengers’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This is what good Rock should be.
All the Old Showstoppers is probably the most interesting track on Challengers. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Myriad Harbour - For me, this is the best of the album. All the Things That Go to Make Heaven and Earth is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. The sound of Failsafe is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Unguided is almost impossible to review. Entering White Cecilia pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Go Places is a gorgeous song and it grows on you. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Mutiny, I Promise You. One listen to the sheer beauty of Adventures in Solitude was all I needed. I like the idea behind The Spirit of Giving.
