It has been sixteen years The Kinks’ last studio CD, “The Ultimate Collection CD1″ which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. While no new The Kinks album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 2002 tour in Australia. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of The Kinks on ‘You Really Got Me’. Check it every song is worth the money for the The Ultimate Collection CD1 CD!
All Day and All of the Night to me is the best you can get from The Kinks. Tired of Waiting for You good vocals. Everybody’s Gonna Be Happy is nothing but pure genius. Set Me Free had me crying as I was able to relate so well. See My Friends is really the reason why I recommend buying The Ultimate Collection CD1. Till the End of the Day without a doubt is the standout song of The Ultimate Collection CD1. Although Dedicated Follower of Fashion is very melodic it is far from sad. Sunny Afternoon is a amazing, simple song by The Kinks at the top of his game. Dead End Street - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. The Kinks has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Death of a Clown is another favourite of mine. Autumn Almanac (3:12) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! The Kinks is one of artists that allow his songs like Susannah’s Still Alive to stand on their own and be heard. Wonderboy is one of the coolest songs The Kinks has ever recorded. Days which is my favorite is a truly The Kinks sounding song. Nice and different song. I think Victoria is the best song The Kinks has ever done. Lola is a medium tempo tune. Apeman is one of my favorite songs by The Kinks. Supersonic Rocket Ship gives taste of what makes The Kinks special as a musician. Better Things - I just love it. Lyrics of Come Dancing are precise and evocative. After you’ve listened to Don’t Forget to Dance, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate.
