Lead single “Gonna Take It” and “Fire In The Sky” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Since The John Butler Trio last CD (Grand National) on Sparrow Records back in 2007, I have felt a massive void in my life. Grand National carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. I Love Grand National from start to finish!
Fire In The Sky presents the gorgeous mix of instruments on Grand National. Opening track Losing You shows the best of The John Butler Trio. I loved Nowhere Man the first time I heard it. Devil Running is really a nice song to relax and listen too. From the moment you listen to Gov Did Nothing you’re hooked. Groovin’ Slowly is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything The John Butler Trio released so far. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Good Excuse is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. This song may be the most meaningful. It’s such an underrated song. Daniella (4:15) a good melody. Strong, powerful vocals of The John Butler Trio in Better Than are very impressive.
