Now signed to Talib Kweli’s Virgin Records, the title track from second album “Ear Drum” leads Talib Kweli’s back-to-school campaign. This is the first studio album from Talib Kweli since bad diagnosis in 2007. This is one of the best Cd’s Talib Kweli has dropped to date. Everything Man - Talib Kweli and My Weather Report - Talib Kweli is really good.
My Weather Report - Talib Kweli is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Hotile Gospel Pt. 1 (Deliver Us) - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Country Cousins (feat. U.G.K. & Raheem Devaughn) the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. From the moment you listen to Holy Moly - Talib Kweli you’re hooked. Eat to Live - Talib Kweli had me crying as I was able to relate so well. In The Mood (feat. Kanye West & Roy Ayers) is a great opener for Ear Drum. Soon The New Day (feat. Norah Jones) is the more seemingly obscure song on Ear Drum that bear up best to repeated listening. Give ‘Em Hell (feat. Coi Mattison & Lyfe Jennings) - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. More or Less - Talib Kweli is probably one of Talib Kweli’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Best song on the album, love it. Hot Thing - Talib Kweli, will.i.am, is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Space Fruit Interlude (Preformed By Sa-Ra) gets you up and jumping. The Perfect Beat (feat. KRS-One) - I just love it. Some call Oh My Stars (feat. Musiq Soulchild) from Ear Drum as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Listen!!! - Talib Kweli has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Talib Kweli’s strong vocals come to the fore. Go With Us (feat. Strong Arm Steady) (Bonus) is the most memorable and exquisite. Hostile Gospel Pt. 2 (Deliver Me) (feat. Sizzla) (Bonus) is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. The Nature (feat. Justin Timberlake) (Bonus) stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty.
