Since completing 1978’s ‘The Joker’, Steve Miller Band fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Steve Miller Band’s album Greatest Hits falls to No. 2 with 189,000, a sales slide of 93%. After seeing The Joker, I had to have a good Steve Miller Band cd. This album is awesome.
Space Intro is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Fly Like An Eagle is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Jet Airliner is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Steve Miller Band released so far. The opening track Dance Dance Dance is very much like you would expect from other albums. Give It Up - For me, this is the best of the album. Greatest Hits couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Keeps Me Wondering Why. Abracadabra is gorgeous song though, very addictive. Swingtown - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Strong, powerful vocals of Steve Miller Band in Jungle Love are very impressive. Take The Money and Run - A strong beat. Rock ‘N Me the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. The Stake - This one makes me want to not only sing along. If you are a Steve Miller Band fan, you will love Heart Like A Wheel. Wide River one of the best in my collection. True Fine Love - A catchy, upbeat tune. I can’t stop humming along Cry Cry Cry. I can’t stop playing Serenade. All of songs on Greatest Hits and have something to say letting alone Winter Time. Wild Mountain Honey is a very catchy tune.
