After you’ve listened to Me And My Imagination, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. New York City Lights presents the gorgeous mix of instruments on Trip the Light Fantastic. The opening track Today The Sun’s On Us is very much like you would expect from other albums. If I Can’t Dance is one of the more up-tempo songs on Trip the Light Fantastic. Distance Between Us is one of the coolest songs Sophie Ellis-Bextor has ever recorded. When listening to If You Go, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Some of the arrangements found on Trip the Light Fantastic are surprisingly edgy. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Put New Flame into car stereo for your highway driving Voice of Sophie Ellis-Bextor in China Heart is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. What Have We Started? is one of these floating songs. Can’t Have It All (Bonus Track) is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Down With Love (Catch You B-Side) is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. The song feels complete.
