This album has some very good songs like YouV’re All I Have and Hands Open. Eyes Open isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Eyes Open carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. This album is a scorcher!
Excellent vocals and musical performances. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Chasing Cars, which shows, blatantly, how much Snow Patrol has evolved as a singer. Shut Your Eyes great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Song Beginning To Get To Me is actually a funny song. You Could Be Happy is simple, dignified and effective, Snow Patrol refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. The first time I listened to Make This Go On Forever I was struck by its astounding sound. Set The Fire To The Third Bar featuring Martha Wainwright as a highlight of Eyes Open contains a ton of excellent melodies. I like Headlights because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. A great put together song.
