Lead single “Mrs. Robinson” and “For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. On Greatest Hits album, Simon and Garfunkel have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Since Simon and Garfunkel last CD (Greatest Hits) on Blue Note Records back in 1972, I have felt a massive void in my life. This album is a scorcher!
Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. The Boxer is probably the most interesting track on Greatest Hits. The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy) is pretty funky and mellow. The Sound Of Silence - This is a very lively song. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Greatest Hits. Scarborough Fair-Canticle is a astounding song and it grows on you. I’ve found myself listening to Homeward Bound back to back and back many times. What sets Bridge Over Troubled Water apart is Simon and Garfunkel’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. America - My least favorite song on this album. Kathy’s Song - A catchy, upbeat tune. Blew our minds when we first heard El Condor Pasa (If I Could). Bookends Theme very upbeat. One listen to the sheer beauty of Cecilia was all I needed.
