It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Rooney energies, virtually a rebirth. eleven years ago, Rooney briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Believe In Me”. There is so much to love about Rooney, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Another great offering from Rooney.
Some of the arrangements found on Calling the World are surprisingly edgy. After you’ve listened to Love Me Or Leave Me, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Are They Afraid - This one is lively and fun. So much energy, so exciting a sound.This track is just a stunning masterpiece. I Should Have Been After You has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Rooney’s strong vocals come to the fore. This song may be the most meaningful. What For - another great track from the Calling the World album. I now have Paralyzed as one of my personal favorites. Get Calling the World and turn on When Did Your Heart Go Missing if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Music and lyrics of Calling The World creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming.
