It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Rod Stewart energies, virtually a rebirth. The Story So Far: The Very Best Of (CD 1) carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Since completing 2001’s ‘Maggie May’, Rod Stewart fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Such great and happy songs.
Baby Jane is cool work of Rod Stewart. Some Guys Have All The Luck is really the reason why I recommend buying The Story So Far: The Very Best Of (CD 1). I think Young Turks is the best song Rod Stewart has ever done. Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? is just simply stunning. Rod Stewart offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. I believe Hot Legs is one of the most amazing, heartfelt songs ever written. You Wear It Well is the albums biggest surprise. Rod Stewart emotions are reflected through Rhythm Of My Heart. Downtown Train defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Motown Song sets the tone for the entire album. I now have This Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak For You) as one of my personal favorites. Rod Stewart sings Tonight I’m Yours in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. In Ooh La La Rod Stewart is at his best. I Can’t Deny It is probably the most interesting track on The Story So Far: The Very Best Of (CD 1). This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Stay With Me is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through The Story So Far: The Very Best Of (CD 1).
