The Very Best Of isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Now signed to Robert Palmer’s Mute Records, the title track from second album “The Very Best Of” leads Robert Palmer’s back-to-school campaign. ‘The Very Best Of’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
|titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Robert Palmer sings Simply Irresistible in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Music of Get It On is gentle, never overbearing. Some Guys Have All The Luck is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. When listening to I Didn’t Mean To Turn You On, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Looking For Clues is the albums biggest surprise. You Are In My System is the first taste of the new album. Some Like It Hot is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. I love the melodic melody of Respect Yourself and to this day it makes me feel good. I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Johnny and Mary is another favourite of mine. She Makes My Day had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Lyrics of Know By Now are precise and evocative. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Mercy Mercy Me / I Want You have really caught my ear and imagination.
