It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Relient K energies, virtually a rebirth. This album has some very good songs like Plead The Fifth and Come Right Out And Say It. It’s natural for Relient K to take a stab at ‘Plead The Fifth’ considering her long-professed love for Universal Soul. Five Score and Seven Years Ago touched my soul like nothing else.
A great put together song. Don’t judge I Need You on the first listening. The Best Thing - This one is lively and fun. You have to get essence of the Forgiven’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Must Have Done Something Right defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. The opening track Give is very much like you would expect from other albums. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Devastation And Reform. I’m Taking You With Me is simply cool. Faking My Own Suicide is a medium tempo tune. The sound in Crayons Can Melt On Us For All I Care is really warm and Relient K’s signature voice is still very much present. Some call Bite My Tongue from Five Score and Seven Years Ago as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Up And Up is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. There is astounding mix of music in Deathbed.
