On Trouble album, Ray LaMontagne have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Trouble isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Ray LaMontagne energies, virtually a rebirth. This is what good Indie should be.
Shelter is the albums biggest surprise. Hold You In My Arms - arguably the best track on Trouble album. Narrow Escape is a very catchy tune. Burn (2:54) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Forever My Friend is a good listen every once in a while. Some of the arrangements found on Trouble are surprisingly edgy. How Come is pretty funky and mellow. Jolene is probably one of Ray LaMontagne’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. All The Wild Horses is one of my favorite songs by Ray LaMontagne.
