Since Portishead last CD (Dummy) on Mute Records back in 1994, I have felt a massive void in my life. ‘Dummy’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Dummy is an amazing album, racked with beauty. If you want to hear real Pop: Pop-Rock, get this record now!
Sour Times is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. I loved Strangers the first time I heard it. I think It Could Be Sweet is the best song Portishead has ever done. Wandering Star - My least favorite song on this album. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Dummy. This track is full of harmonies and gets Dummy off to a relaxing start. Roads - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Dummy. This song may be the most meaningful. Portishead has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving.
