After debuting at No. 1 last week, Phil Collins’s album Hits falls to No. 2 with 598,000, a sales slide of 83%. nine years ago, Phil Collins briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “A Groovy Kind Of Love”. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Phil Collins energies, virtually a rebirth. Hits touched my soul like nothing else.
A Groovy Kind Of Love hits the heart. In The Air Tonight is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Still going through Hits and coming to appreciate Dance Into The Light more and more with every listen. One More Night - Okay, I just talked about depth. Sussudio (4:22) - awsome. Both Sides Of The Story I just LOVE this mix! Something Happened On The Way To Heaven is really the reason why I recommend buying Hits. Some of the arrangements found on Hits are surprisingly edgy. Album opener Against All Odds is a bright, upbeat ditty. Two Hearts is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Nice and different song. I hope to keep hearing Phil Collins works for a long time to come. True Colors actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Phil Collins’s face. If you are a Phil Collins fan, you will love Easy Lover. Another Day In Paradise is perfect.
