It’s natural for Maximo Park to take a stab at ‘Signal and Sign’ considering her long-professed love for EMF. fourteen years ago, Maximo Park briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Apply Some Pressure”. Since completing 0’s ‘Signal and Sign’, Maximo Park fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. If I may, I suggest “Signal and Sign”. That one song is amazing!
I came to like Apply Some Pressure. Voice and instruments in Graffiti complement each other. Postcard Of A Painting is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Within the first few notes of Going Missing it’s perfectly clear that Maximo Park is living this song. I Want You To Stay is a bit of a show-tune. Limassol is a marvelous, simple song by Maximo Park at the top of his game. The Coast Is Always Changing is the album’s biggest hit, I think. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Once A Glimpse one is one of the better boring ones. Now I’m All Over The Shop - To me, this is the best song on the A Certain Trigger. Listening to Acrobat you can hear that Maximo Park has still amazing chemistry with band members. Strong, powerful vocals of Maximo Park in Kiss You Better are very impressive.
