There is no doubt that Kings Of Leon has talent. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Kings Of Leon has. Lead single “Talihina Sky” and “Holy Roller Novocaine” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Smart music for smart people.
Holy Roller Novocaine - I just love it. Genius is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Dusty is just simply stunning. In Molly’s Chambers the music gets its power. I listened to the opening track Spiral Staircase and liked it a lot. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Youth and Young Manhood is Trani. California Waiting as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Joe’s Head is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Happy Alone - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Wasted Time one is one of the better boring ones. Red Morning Light rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo.
