Lead single “Red High Heels” and “Gotta Keep Moving” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Kellie Pickler energies, virtually a rebirth. Small Town Girl carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Unappreciated gift to Country
No Kellie Pickler song has come close to capturing my attention as Gotta Keep Moving did. Things That Never Cross A Man’s Mind is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You is the funkiest number on the album. I Wonder is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Small Town Girl is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Girls Like Me presents the perfect mix of instruments on Small Town Girl. Some of the arrangements found on Small Town Girl are surprisingly edgy. One Of The Guys - A classic Kellie Pickler track. My Angel actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Kellie Pickler’s face.
