‘Underneath The Stars’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. This disc has all of the essential Kate Rusby classics. Ivan Grach has compared writing for Kate Rusby’s new album to that on ‘Underneath The Stars’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This album is a scorcher!
There is astounding mix of music in The Daughter Of Megan. When listening to Let Me Be, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Cruel is the astounding blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. The Blind Harper is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. The White Cockade is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Kate Rusby breathes new life into the music in Young James. As always, Kate Rusby’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. In Bring Me A Boat the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Polly is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Sweet Williams Ghost is a great opener for Underneath The Stars. Underneath The Stars as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature.
