Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Just Jack on ‘Writers Block’. Just Jack’s debut, ‘Overtones’, does not fit easily into one genre. There is so much to love about Just Jack, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Writers Block and Glory Days is really good.
After few listenings I started to like Glory Days more and more. Disco Friends is probably one of Just Jack’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Starz In Their Eyes as a highlight of Overtones contains a ton of cool melodies. Album opener Lost is a bright, upbeat ditty. I Talk Too Much was the first single release from the album Overtones. When listening to Hold On, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Symphony Of Sirens has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. I find myself hearing bits of Life Stories here and there throughout my waking hours. Overtones couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track No Time. Voice of Just Jack in Mourning Morning is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Just Jack must have run out of lyrics on the next track Spectacular Failures/Koolaid. I’ve found myself listening to Untitled (Hidden track) back to back and back many times.
