It’s natural for John Mellencamp to take a stab at ‘Walk Tall’ considering her long-professed love for Depeche Mode. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by John Mellencamp. For older fans Words and Music: Greatest Hits (CD 1) will put a massive smile accross your face. Smart music for smart people.
I can’t stop humming along Pink Houses. Lonely Ol’ Night is a good listen every once in a while. Jackie Brown - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Love and Happiness - A classic John Mellencamp track. I loved Check It Out the first time I heard it. Voice and instruments in Peaceful World complement each other. Paper In Fire is a bit of a show-tune. I now have Your Life Is Now as one of my personal favorites. Charming song, great melody. When Jesus Left Birmingham is the most memorable and excellent. I find myself hearing bits of Authority Song here and there throughout my waking hours. What If I Came Knocking (5:06) - awsome. Crumblin’ Down is a great opener for Words and Music: Greatest Hits (CD 1). Small Town - A nice song. R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A. is such a perfect and optimistic song that things can get just better. Cherry Bomb is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Pop Singer is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Words and Music: Greatest Hits (CD 1) have ended.
