This disc has all of the essential Jethro Tull classics. It has been ten years Jethro Tull’ last studio CD, “Aqualung” which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. ‘Aqualung’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Aqualung and Cross-Eyed Mary is really good.
Cross-Eyed Mary - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. The sound of Cheap Day Return is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Mother Goose as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Jethro Tull has astounded me with this amazing track. Up To Me - I just love it. My God is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Hymn 43 is a strong cut, one of many. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Locomotive Breath is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. As always, Jethro Tull’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again.
