Gym Class Heroes was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Gym Class Heroes and As Cruel as School Children together. Lead single “1st Period: The Queen and I” and “2nd Period: Shoot Down the Stars” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. ‘As Cruel as School Children’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Enjoy the show.
Simple and heartfelt closing track 2nd Period: Shoot Down the Stars closes As Cruel as School Children on a high note. 3rd Period: New Friend Request actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Gym Class Heroes’s face. 4th Period: Clothes Off! is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Lunch: Sloppy Love Jingle, Pt. 1 - Gym Class Heroes - A catchy, upbeat tune. When I listen to 6th Period: Viva La White Girl in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. What sets 7th Period: 7 Weeks apart is Gym Class Heroes’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. 8th Period: It’s OK, But Just This Once! is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. The opening track Study Hall: Sloppy Love Jingle, Pt. 2 is very much like you would expect from other albums. 10th Period: Biters Block - Gym Class Heroes, Speech is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Yearbook Club: Boys in Bands Interlude gives taste of what makes Gym Class Heroes special as a musician. Don’t judge 12th Period: Scandalous Scholastics - Gym Class Heroes on the first listening. Music of 13th Period: On My Own Time (Write On!) is gentle, never overbearing. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in As Cruel as School Children.
