It’s natural for Grinderman to take a stab at ‘Get It On’ considering her long-professed love for Babylon Zoo. Grinderman isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. one years ago, Grinderman briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “No Pussy Blues”. Great Blues right here!
No Pussy Blues makes a person feel marvelous. Electric Alice is probably one of Grinderman’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. The sound of Grinderman is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Depth Charge Ethel is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Go Tell The Women is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. (I Don’t Need You To) Set Me Free catches attention immediately, Honey Bee (Lets Fly To Mars) is a song to enjoy for years to come. Man In The Moon as a highlight of Grinderman contains a ton of excellent melodies. The first time I listened to When My Love Comes Down I was struck by its perfect sound. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Love Bomb, which shows, blatantly, how much Grinderman has evolved as a singer.
