Now signed to Fergie’s Mute Records, the title track from second album “The Dutchess” leads Fergie’s back-to-school campaign. The Dutchess isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Bun B. Hear has compared writing for Fergie’s new album to that on ‘The Dutchess’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Another great offering from Fergie.
This song stands out greatly from the others. All That I Got (The Make Up Song) - Check out that bassline! Song London Bridge is actually a funny song. Pedestal pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Nice and different song. Glamorous great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool. Here I Come the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. I was truly moved when I heard Velvet. So much energy, so exciting a sound. Some call Mary Jane Shoes from The Dutchess as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. One listen to the sheer beauty of Finally was all I needed. Get Your Hands Up - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. As always, Fergie’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again.
