On Taking The Long Way album, Dixie Chicks have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Dixie Chicks energies, virtually a rebirth. When you buy a Dixie Chicks album, you know exactly what you’re getting! IT makes me wanna dance!
The sound of Easy Silence is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Excellent vocals and musical performances. All of songs on Taking The Long Way and have something to say letting alone Everybody Knows. Bitter End is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Lullaby. This song stands out greatly from the others. Silent House is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. This is probably my favorite song on the album. The sound in Voice Inside My Head is really warm and Dixie Chicks’s signature voice is still very much present. I Like It is beautiful, yet underrated track. Baby Hold On makes a person feel astounding. The first time I listened to So Hard I was struck by its excellent sound. Charming song, great melody.
