On Greatest Hits album, Crosby,Stills and Nash have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This album has some very good songs like Suite: Judy Blue Eyes and Long Time Gone. Greatest Hits is an amazing album, racked with beauty.This is my first Crosby,Stills and Nash Album and i must say i am blown away.
Long Time Gone very upbeat. You have to get essence of the Just A Song Before I Go’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Southern Cross is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Marrakesh Express is one of the coolest songs Crosby,Stills and Nash has ever recorded. Helplessly Hoping is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Shadow Captain great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Our House is my favorite song on Greatest Hits. Voice of Crosby,Stills and Nash in Guinnevere is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. As always, Crosby,Stills and Nash’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Teach Your Children because the melody in the chorus is so good. Don’t judge Wooden Ships on the first listening. Delta - A catchy, upbeat tune. Only one song from Greatest Hits named 49 Bye-Byes really got me. Wasted On The Way is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Carry On - Questions is the albums biggest surprise. In My Dreams is a very catchy tune. Cathedral is probably one of Crosby,Stills and Nash’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Daylight Again is the excellent blend of moody yet optimistic tunes.
