This album has some very good songs like Today (Bonus Track) and You Know My Name. Chris Cornell’s debut, ‘Carry On’, does not fit easily into one genre. Jim Jones has compared writing for Chris Cornell’s new album to that on ‘Carry On’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This album is a scorcher!
You Know My Name is simple, dignified and effective, Chris Cornell refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Disappearing Act is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Silence the Voices has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Chris Cornell’s strong vocals come to the fore. The first time I listened to Finally Forever I was struck by its marvelous sound. Your Soul Today marked the continuation of Chris Cornell in style evolution. When I listen to Scar on the Sky in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Billie Jean is worth the money. Killing Birds is a fine track on any terms. Ghosts is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Carry On is She’ll Never Be Your Man. Safe and Sound still maintains something of a specific flourish. Overall a nice softer song. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. No Such Thing one of the best in my collection.
