Lead single “Late Morning Lullaby” and “The Story” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This album has some very good songs like Late Morning Lullaby and The Story. Brandi Carlile had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is The Story
The Story is just simply stunning. Turpentine is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. My Song is probably the most interesting track on The Story. Wasted - I just love it. No Brandi Carlile song has come close to capturing my attention as Have You Ever did. Josephine is a great opener for The Story. Losing Heart motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Music and lyrics of Cannonball creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Until I Die is one of the more up-tempo songs on The Story. What sets Downpour apart is Brandi Carlile’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Again Today - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody.
