This is the first studio album from Bob Dylan since bad diagnosis in 0. ‘The Essential (CD 1)’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. It’s natural for Bob Dylan to take a stab at ‘Blowin’ In The Wind’ considering her long-professed love for Orkrist. This album is awesome.
Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right is probably the highlight of the album. The Times They Are A-Changin’ is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. After you’ve listened to It Ain’t Me, Babe, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Maggie’s Farm is simple, dignified and effective, Bob Dylan refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Mr. Tambourine Man is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Bob Dylan released so far. It’s such an underrated song. Like A Rolling Stone is one of my favorite songs by Bob Dylan. Positively 4th Street stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. When listening to Just Like A Woman, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Rainy Day Women #12 and 35 is a medium tempo tune. All Along The Watchtower is perfect song though, very addictive. The Mighty Quinn (Quinn The Eskimo) - I like this one. I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight makes a person feel exquisite.
