It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Avenged Sevenfold energies, virtually a rebirth. Bun B. Hear has compared writing for Avenged Sevenfold’s new album to that on ‘City of Evil’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Self-described as Rock with lots of words, Avenged Sevenfold comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. One of Avenged Sevenfold’s best albums yet.
Burn It Down is a good listen every once in a while. I believe Blinded in Chains is one of the most cool, heartfelt songs ever written. Bat Country presents the gorgeous mix of instruments on City of Evil. Trashed and Scattered is the song that really did it for me. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Sidewinder has a fun tempo. The Wicked End is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after City of Evil have ended. Strength of the World actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Avenged Sevenfold’s face. Betrayed is a perfect song and it grows on you. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: M.I.A., which shows, blatantly, how much Avenged Sevenfold has evolved as a singer.
