Canon (cd1) is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Since completing 2007’s ‘Shameless’, Ani DiFranco fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. I am not a real Alternative music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Canon (cd1)’ really is amazing. Smart music for smart people.
Napoleon as a highlight of Canon (cd1) contains a ton of amazing melodies. As Is - My least favorite song on this album. Fuel make listening to Ani DiFranco like being in some sort of time warp. I like the idea behind Little Plastic Castle. Joyful Girl is perfect. Untouchable Face is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Gravel is a strong cut, one of many. Distracted is just simply stunning. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. 32 Flavors - A classic Ani DiFranco track. Shy has a fun tempo. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Canon (cd1). Coming Up is one of these floating songs. Voice of Ani DiFranco in Buildings And Bridges is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Only one song from Canon (cd1) named You Had Time really got me. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Fire Door has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Ani DiFranco’s strong vocals come to the fore.
